I love movies, and have collected a few over the years. Did you know that you can copy movies? It's true, there is a trick to it, but it works and it is easy, particularly if you use a program called DVD Fab! Another program you can use is Any DVD, but it will require that you also have a DVD burning program like Nero or Roxio, that will cost about $70.00 on sale or $100 at retail. Any DVD will set you back and additional $50.00.
DVD Fab does it all! It will remove the European coding allowing you to copy into the North American code. It removes all the disclaimers, and the anti copy codes. If the original is too big to fit on one blank DVD, it will compress it to fit, with little loss in quality! It will also let you break the original DVD into 2 DVDs with no loss of quality if the original is too big. Then it burns the new disc for you. A very cool program indeed.
All you need is a computer with a DVD burner drive on it, and nearly all of the computers today have that.
If you need to find movies to copy, Blockbuster or Rogers is a likely source, but consider renting free ones from the Library. All that costs is a $10.00 annual fee for a Library Card! Strangely enough, they have a very good selection of some very good movies.
Blank DVDs are available everywhere in packs ranging from 10 to 100 and cost about 30 cents each on sale! You will also need to get some jewel cases and these are available nearly everywhere that blank DVDs are sold. Do not get the DVD +RW or - RW, these are rewritable discs, can be erased, cost more and are slower to burn. Find out what kind of disc you can use in your DVD or Blu Ray player, and buy the right kind, there are 2 kinds. DVD+R or DVD-R. A lot of players and even Blu Ray players will play them.
There are programs out there that will make jewel case inserts in seconds. I have used the easiest one around for years now, and it costs $15.00 on line. Google CDR Label and you are on your way. they set up the spine, front page and back for you, Insert a picture like the original movie if you like, find pictures for free on Google, and paste them onto your insert.
DVD Fab will cost you $50.00 on line, and you can download it for a free trial of 30 days, and if you like it, you can pay for it on your credit card, all very safely.
One other thing, it takes about 28 minutes to burn a copy of a 2 hour movie! Now you can decide to watch a movie you like for almost nothing, any time you like.

Our Pacific Drive
Our trip to the coast was pretty uneventful. We experienced rain until we got to the US just north of Spokane. From there to Forks Washington, we had rain for one day only even though we were promised two days of rain.
At Forks we stayed in a B&B called Miller Tree that was the building used in the Twilight movie, as the Cullen House. You can check out the town on the web, and check on the movie as well. Lots of business people in Forks are riding the Twilight wave.
The Town of Forks is a fishing and logging town, with the tourist industry coming largely from fishermen. The fishing is supposed to be very good with the 3 large rivers in the area. Forks also gets fog, a lot of it, and rain a lot of it too. It seldom gets very warm either. It is only 4 miles from the Pacific, and 16 miles north of the rain forest on the Olympic Peninsula.
While the scenery around Forks is nice with beaches and sea stacks, we came for warmer weather than here so we head for Oregon, and wind up in Seaside on the coast. It got warm there going to 82, but that was the last of the heat.
In Newport OR we spent some time at the local aquarium, and watching the resident sea lions at the fish processing plants. There bellowing can be heard for hundreds of feet. There are dozens of them sleeping, bellowing, getting in the water or getting out to sleep, or eating. People watched them on docks, piles of rock, anything that is dry is fair game. The Yaquina lighthouse is open to the public and a kind of museum is attached to it. The museum offers tours in the lighthouse, as well as offering information on how the light came to be, and the geography of the cape.
We saw more sea lions at most places along the coast from there down to the Giant Redwoods just south of Crescent City in California. These trees are awesome. They are some 2000 years old, go up to over 350 feet and are 24 feet across at the ground! That is a hundred feet taller than Niagara Falls! If they could only talk! The sequoia's are shorter, but a 1000 years older and 40 feet across!
The food along the way was excellent and far cheaper than in Calgary. We had some great Tex-Mex and fresh seafood as well. The weather was great after we left Forks and stayed that way until we started home and we picked up some more rain and fog. Fog was particularly bad as we left Newport on the way home. Rain was very bad along I 84 around Mt. Hood. The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful.
All in all it was a lot of fun and relaxing except for the rainy and foggy bits.
